Adopt-A-Block is an AWESOME ministry that is what we here at the Dream Center consider our mother outreach. A team of anywhere from 10 to 30 men, women and teens go out every Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. to the neighborhood around the Dream Center. We do not go out and try to cram Jesus down their throats. We go out to love the neighborhood and meet any needs they may have; food, clothing, fans or heaters and if need be, help with their bills. This is where we build relationships with the people. When they see us walking down the street, they see Jesus in us and know that we will help in anyway possible. We have mowed yards, and cleared lots, whatever the need may be, we try to meet it. We have block parties with free hamburgers, hotdogs and sodas. This is one of many ways that Adopt-A-Block reaches out and loves the community.
The police have even come to ask for the help of the Dream Center and the Adopt-A-Block ministry. They realize that just putting the dope dealers in jail is not going to work. The only thing that is a guaranteed way to cleaning up the streets is by asking God to take them over, and that is what God is doing through the Adopt-A-Block ministry.
